Okay, Alright. Sinners, Directed By Ryan Coogler and Starring Michael B. Jordan, Is A Movie That Grabs Your Attention Early.
But Keeping Up With Where It’s Headed Is Another Story.
Michael B. Jordan Does His Thing, No Doubt.
He Brings Intensity And Depth,
But The Story Itself? It Jumps All Over The Place.
At Times, It Feels Like It’s Trying To Be A History Lesson In Music.
Then It Veers Into Themes Of Freedom and Rebellion, Then Suddenly We’re Talking Vampires?
Or Is It Coded Resistance Against The Ku Klux Klan?
Maybe All Of The Above, Maybe None.
The Movie Throws A Lot At You, And Not All Of It Sticks.
There Are Moments That Break The Tension With Humor, Which Works Thanks To Performances like Delroy Lindo’s.
Yes, Isaak O’Day From Romeo Must Die Still Has That Presence.
He Brings A Certain Grounded Energy That Helps Balance The Chaos.
Cinematography’s On Point. The CGI Doesn’t Feel Overdone, And Visually, The Film Delivers.
But Even With All That, Something Feels Off.
